Running a business is hard, isn’t it? There are constant challenges and managing the peaks and troughs of sales, cash flow and new customers can be tough. And it can seem never ending. But when you finally capture a new customers’ attention and get them on board, are you thinking about how you treat them, give value to them, and how you give them something else, something they didn’t expect?   Exceed expectations One simple way to do this is to under promise, and over deliver. You obviously must give them what you promise you will, in return for the fee you charge. That’s a given. But why stop there? Why not work out what you can do for the price – and then do slightly more? Here are two examples: Price your golden package so that it offers X and Y but also build Z into the price (just don’t mention it). Then, when you give them Z as well they’ll really think you’re a great company to work for… even though they’ve paid for Z included in the charges. Work out what you can add to your service or product that doesn’t cost you much at all but it adds to the experience. For instance: sell them a phone case but throw in a screen protector for free. It’s a simple and fairly inexpensive add on but it’ll be a nice surprise. Amazon have just launched a new credit card that offers 5% on all purchases made on the shopping site. On the face of it, it sounds like a really good deal – and if you shop at Amazon this might well be an appealing option. But only 5%? AND you must be an Amazon Prime member which at its cheapest is £99 a year. (Although you do get to watch Jeremy Clarkson for that too, if that’s your bag.) But with B2BTradeCard you get a whopping 14% back on some purchases with large stores like Marks & Spencer, Argos, Virgin, Hotel Stay UK and more. We’ll reward you almost three times more than Amazon’s credit card. There’s no doubt about it that Amazon have a great system in Prime.
